The function of introduction chapter
- The introduction chapter introduce the readers to your research by showing what you want to study and why this study is important.
What should you tell in the introduction chapter?
- You have to tell about:
- what your research question is.
- the background why you are asking that question
- The significance of your research,
- The goal of your research
Your research question
- Your research question is the focus of your research. You collect and analyze the data in order to answer your research question.
- Your research question should be interesting & important for the readers and researchable.
Background of study
- Tell the readers explicitly and spesifically why you are asking your research question. What makes you ask that research question?
- You can relate it to the problem faced by the society. For esample, by knowing the answer to your research question, hopely the readers will be able to better understand the problem and come to its solution.
Significance of the study
- Tell the readers why you think your research is significant.
- Show specifically and explicitly how the result of your study will help the readers understand and solve the problem: what is the implication of the findings to the existing knowledge and theory in that field, how the findings can be applied to the educational practice.
The goal of study
- Basically, the goal of your research is to find out the answer to your research question.
Notes
- Write clearly, specifically, precisely, explicitly, accurately, objectively, & informatively.
- Use formal written language.
